SELENITE

Here’s a real scandal for you: what you’re looking at above is what your woo-crew refers to as Selenite, but in the scientific world it’s called Gypsum Satin Spar…which is technically not Selenite, per se. Hear me out…

THE SCIENCE

Gypsum is found all over the world, from Paris (basin) to Morocco to Oklahoma. As the most common member of the Sulfate family of minerals, Gypsum is an Evaporate. This means that it begins to crystalize as minerals precipitate out of a solution, or sublimate from a solid. A solution can vary in composition and the product of these two processes depends on how much saline or other material is in the solution as well as the environmental factors like temperature, pressure and time. True Selenite is colorless, transparent and acicular, while Gypsum Satin Spar is more translucent and fiberous, and both are a 2/10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. All that said, Selenite and Satin Spar are the same, but different.

THE MAGIC

As for me, I call this Selenite on a daily basis. It’s known as a CLEANSER & PROTECTOR, and is so powerful that you literally don’t need to clean it (but really, don’t because it’ll dissolve). It’s a hard working crystal that zaps out dense and old energies that we don’t need! Have a bad day? Need a restart? Calling in your Spirit Guide? Easing into post-quarantine life? Need to meditate with total peace?
